Archana Tamang Lama

Archana Tamang has been involved in anti-human trafficking work since 1994. She began working with NGOs supporting children from underprivileged communities in 1994, and then joined Action Aid Nepal from 1997-2000 as Desk Officer and Fundraising Manager.

Tamang was Regional Programme Coordinator for Save the Children (International) Alliance South and central Asia from 2000—2005. She later joined UNifem (Now UN Women) South Asia as Chief, Women’s Human Rights and Human Security Unit and Regional Anti human trafficking coordinator. Tamang was also the Senior Advisor for DANIDA, Multi-Sectoral Programme on Violence against Women in 2009-2011 and to the Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs, Government of Bangladesh.

Following the 2015 Nepal Earthquake, she promised herself not to leave Nepal for a job outside of the country. The professional and emotional engagement of a lifetime, personally, is Tamang’s current one: working for her country from within the government system, as Advisor, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion, National Reconstruction Authority, Government of Nepal, based in Singha Durbar.
