A Report on Participatory Rural Appraisal and Focus Group Discussion in 13 Villages of East Khasi Hills District Meghalaya (2006)

The main objective of the appraisal and focus-group discussion was to determine the problems faced by the people of thirteen villages in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya and to outline the issues on which World Vision could intervene.

A total of 940 people participated. Some of the major findings were that while there were free and compulsory schools for children aged 14 years and under, the quality of education sources was very poor and lacking; there were conflicts while selecting village leadership; and there was a scarcity of doctors, nurses and ambulance services.
