Violence against Women and Children: The Meghalaya Scenario (2008)

Violence against Women and Children in MeghalayaOffences against women and children are so endemic in the society of Meghalaya that they now make up a standard component of a woman’s lifestyle. Violence against women and young girls in the workplace, at home, in the political arena, and in social settings has escalated.

The political sphere has remained closed to women who, as a result, face even greater threats from globalisation, including feminisation of poverty, historic rates of cross-border trafficking, harmful stereotyping and relegating, and gender bias.
